| The Johnson County Trojans
took another step towards the Dome with a 39-20 victory over the Seminole
County Indians. It was another wild night at Herschel Walker Field
but, unlike last week, the Trojans didn't need any last minute heroics to
get the win. The win gives JOCO an eleven game winning streak, tied
for third longest in history. The win also give JOCO a twelve game
home winning streak (thanks to Coach Bonds for making me aware of this). The Trojans will face the Bremen Blue Devils next week in
Wrightsville. Bremen was 26-0 winners over Social Circle.
Johnson County took the lead on their
first possession. Cedric Rawlings guided the Trojans down the field
for a 69 yard scoring drive. Rawlings hit B.J. Murray with a 32 yard
touchdown pass. Spencer Hartley kicked the extra point and the score
was 7-0. It only took the Indians two plays to tie the score.
Bacarrie Rambo went in from 43 yards out. Tavious Williams kicked the
extra point and the score was tied 7-7. After being forced to punt the
Trojans forced a Indian fumble and Jonathan Linder returned it down to the
one. Cedric Rawlings scored on the next play. A Spencer Hartley
kick made the score 14-7. After forcing Seminole County to punt after
three plays Cedric Rawlings scored on the next play from 61 yards out.
Hartley kicked the extra point and the score was 21-7.
JOCO scored again on their next
possession. On the first play of the second quarter Kelvis Whitley
made a 45 yard run for a touchdown. The kick was blocked.
Seminole County moved the ball back down the field behind the running of
Bacarrie Rambo and Jakenzie Jones. Jones got the touchdown from 22
yards out. The kick failed and the score was 27-13. Johnson
County almost got another score on their next possession. Cordele
Johnson, who entered the game in the 2nd quarter, hit B.J. Murray over the
middle. Murray, who appeared to be down at the two, fumbled the ball
into the end zone. The ball was recovered by Seminole County.
The Indians moved the ball down out to midfield when with less than 20
seconds remaining Jonathan Linder picked off a Rambo pass and returned it 60
yards down to the Seminole 10. After a penalty Cordele Johnson hit
Cedric Rawlings with a 15 yard touchdown pass in the corner of the end zone.
The conversion pass fell incomplete and at the half JOCO led 33-13.
Seminole County took the second half
kickoff and drove down the field for a touchdown. On fourth down and
13 Bacarrie Rambo hit Dontavious Smith for a 35 yard touchdown pass.
The Williams kick was good and the score was 33-20. JOCO took the ball
at the Johnson 29 and four plays later scored again, all four plays were by
the fullback. The last was a 52 yard touchdown run by Stacy Devero.
The kick failed and the score was 39-20.
Their was no scoring in the fourth
quarter. The only threat came from the Trojans. Cedric Rawlings
hit Micarlus King for an apparent 30 yard touchdown pass. The play was
called back, however, because King did not report his number. Then on
3rd down the referees gave the ball over to the Indians on downs.
That's right...on third down. I'm not sure how the referees lost two
downs but luckily it had no effect on the game. |
