The Johnson County Trojans defeated the Howard
Huskies 46-7 at the Bibb Sports Complex in North Macon. The Huskies
forced the Trojans to punt on the opening possession but a quick fumble by
Howard put JOCO in business. It took the Trojans just two plays to
score from 21 yards out. Larry Taylor went the final 11 yards for the
touchdown. The Trojans marched 77 yards for their next touchdown. The
big play was a 42 yard pass from D. J. Rozier to Larry Taylor. D. J.
Rozier scored from 5 yards out. The conversion pass failed. The
Trojans third score of the first quarter was on a 63 yard drive. The
big play of this drive was a 28 yard run by Stanquez Carlyle. Daniel
Wright got the touchdown on a 9 yard run. The conversion pass failed.
Unable to overcame three penalties, including two consecutive holding
penalties, the Trojans were forced to punt on their first drive of the second quarter. JOCO got back in the groove on their
next possession scoring on a 45 yard drive. Kevin Rozier scored from
13 yards out. The conversion pass from D. J. Rozier to Zack
Walker made the score 28-0 at halftime. The Trojans struck quick in
the third quarter. After recovering a fumble on the kickoff JOCO
scored from the Howard 40 in two plays. A 33 yard pass to Zack Walker
from D. J. Rozier and a 7 yard touchdown pass to Zack Walker from D. J.
Rozier. The Huskies would get their only score of the night and their
first touchdown in school history of the next kickoff. Aarion Palmer
returned the kickoff 75 yards for the score. Martin Velinov kicked the
extra point. The Trojans came right back with a 57 yard kickoff return
by Shamarko Brown to set JOCO up at the Howard 19. On the fourth play
Kevin Rozier went in from the one. The kick attempt failed. The
final Trojan touchdown drive was 35 yards long. Daniel Wright
recovered a fumble by the Trojan running back in the end zone. The
kick attempt failed. With 3:12 remaining in the third quarter the
score was JOCO 46 Howard 7 and the starters were done for the night.
The Trojan reserves did an excellent job the remainder of the game against
the Howard starters.
