JOHNSON COUNTY 39 JENKINS COUNTY 20

The Johnson County Trojans (7-0) kept their unbeaten season going with a 39-20 win over the Jenkins County Eagles (2-4).  The Trojans got on the board quickly.  Deon Cuyler took the opening kickoff on the 8 yard line and raced 92 yards for the touchdown.  The Trojans turned the ball over on downs on their next two possessions.  On Jenkins third possession they hit a 75 yard pass for a touchdown.  After the PAT Jenkins County led 7-6.  The Trojans answered...going 53 yards to take a 12-7 lead.  Daniel Wright got the touchdown from one yard out.  With 5:57 remaining Jenkins hit another pass for a touchdown...this time from 36 yards out.  The score was 13-12.  JOCO came back with a 57 yard drive to regain the lead at 18-13.  D. J. Rozier hit Daniel Wright with a fourth down pass from 26 yards out for the touchdown.  Jenkins got the final score of the half with 22.8 seconds remaining.  A third touchdown pass...this time from 28 yards out to take a 20-18 halftime lead.

The JOCO defense stopped Jenkins on their opening possession of the second half.  A good punt pinned the Trojans at the 10.  The Trojans fumbled on the first play and it looked like Jenkins would extend their lead.  However, on their third play Jenkins fumbled and Kevin Rozier scooped it up and ran 75 yards for the touchdown.  JOCO led 24-20.  After an exchange of possessions JOCO intercepted a pass at midfield and ran it back inside the 10.  However, a penalty backed the Trojans to the 29.  It only took two plays to score.  D. J. Rozier hit Rex Walker with a 16 yard pass for the touchdown.  The Trojans finally got a conversion and the score was 32-20 with 53 seconds remaining in the 3rd quarter.  The Trojans got the ball with 11 minutes to go and drove inside the 10.  JOCO would spend seven out of the last eight minutes inside the 10.  JOCO would turn the ball over on downs twice before finally getting the final score.  Taurus Mosley went in from 5 yards out.  Alex Allen kicked the extra point to give JOCO a 39-20 victory.

The Trojans are sitting atop the sub-region standings with a 4-0 record.  JOCO will travel to Twin City on Friday to face the defending state champion ECI Bulldogs.  ECI is 3-0 in the sub-region and 6-0 overall.
