JOCO 27 CALVARY DAY 7 |
|
The JOCO Trojans
defeated the Calvary Day Cavaliers 27-7 in Savannah. The story of the
game was ball control. JOCO only had seven possessions, four ended in
touchdowns, one ended with a missed field goal attempt, one ended with an
interception and one ended with a punt.
After taking the opening kickoff JOCO marched into
Cavalier territory only to have an interception end the drive. The
Trojans D forced a 3 and out and after a good punt by the Cavaliers the
Trojans started at the 11. JOCO moved the ball out to the 39 before
being forced to punt. Calvary was able to move the ball a little,
getting a couple of first downs but were eventually forced to punt.
After the punt sailed into the endzone JOCO started at the 20. It only
took four plays to score. Larry Taylor rambled the final 58 yards for
the touchdown. The Alex Allen extra point made the score JOCO 7
Calvary Day 0. After a good kickoff return Calvary started at
midfield. They were able to get the ball down to the JOCO 28 but on
4th and 13 decided to punt. The Trojans started their next scoring
drive from their own 10. It took 15 plays and 6:25 but the Trojans
scored another touchdown to take a 13-0 lead. Zack Walker caught a 3
yard pass from D. J. Rozier for the score.
JOCO was able to put a couple of fairly quick
scores on the board in the third quarter to put the game away. After
forcing Calvary to punt JOCO scored on only 3 plays with the big one being a
51 yard touchdown pass from D. J. Rozier to Zack Walker. Alex Allen
kicked the extra point and the score was JOCO 20-0. Calvary fumbled on
their next play from scrimmage. The fumble was recovered by Trevyon
Smith. JOCO had their first short field of the night and in 8 plays
they had their final touchdown of the night. Glendarrius Darrisaw
caught an 8 yard pass from D. J. Rozier for the score. After the Alex
Allen extra point JOCO led 27-0. It would now be Calvary's time to
mount a drive. The Cavaliers went 66 yards in 14 plays and took 6:35
off the clock to get their only score of the night. Luke Stroud went
in from one yard out on 4th down for the touchdown. The Trojans ran
out most of the clock on their next drive...going 66 yards down to the
Calvary Day 3 before missing a field goal. |
