JOCO 45 WHEELER COUNTY 7

The Trojans started the game sluggish...a trend that must come to an end.  However, JOCO overcame the sluggish start to walk away with an easy victory...a trend that needs to continue.  Wheeler County took the opening kickoff and put together an impressive drive.  The Bulldogs went 58 yards in 12 plays to take a 7-0 lead.  The drive also took 8:28 off the clock.  The Wheeler County lead would not last long.  After Taurus Mosley returned the kickoff 26 yards the Trojans started at the Wheeler 48.  It took JOCO five plays to score...two of the plays were loss yardage plays because of a bad pitch and a bad snap.  D. J. Rozier hit Zack Walker twice on the drive, with the final one being a 25 yard touchdown.  Alex Allen kicked the extra point to tie the game at 7.  On Wheeler County's next possession they managed to pick up two first downs before the game turned in favor of the Trojans for good.  A Bulldog fumble at midfield was scooped up by Zack Walker and returned for a touchdown.  The PAT failed and JOCO led 13-7.  The JOCO defense forced a three and out on Wheeler's next possession and a 49 yard punt return by Zack Walker set the Trojans up at the Wheeler 26.  On the third play D. J. Rozier hit Zack Walker for a 20 yard touchdown.  The PAT once again failed and JOCO led 19-7.  Wheeler County fumbled on their next play from scrimmage and the Trojans were in business again at the Wheeler 33.  On the Trojans' first play Shamarko Brown ran in for the score.  With the third straight PAT failure JOCO led 25-7.  The JOCO defense forced another three and out on Wheeler's next possession and Zack Walker returned this punt 33 yards down to the Wheeler 44.  The Trojans scored in four plays.  Zack Walker scored his fourth touchdown of the half on a 9 yard touchdown reception.  The conversion run by Dovsavious Brown failed and JOCO led 31-7.  Wheeler County managed one first down on their next possession before turning the ball over on downs at the Johnson County 46.  The Trojans ran three plays.  The final one was a 37 yard pass from D.J. Rozier to Shamarko Brown.  Curt Irwin ran in the conversion to give JOCO 39-7 lead with 46 seconds remaining in the half.  D. J. Rozier intercepted a pass on the last play of the half.  The Trojans scored seven touchdowns in the half while running only 16 plays and having the ball for only 6 minutes and 39 seconds.

The second half was pretty much non-eventful.  The Trojans had the ball four times.  The Trojans turned the ball over on downs on the first drive, punted on the second drive, scored on the third drive and fumbled on their last drive.  Larry Taylor scored the touchdown from nine yards out.  Wheeler County also had the ball four times in the second half.  The Bulldogs fumbled on their first drive, punted on their second drive, punted on their third drive and the game ended on their fourth drive.  The Trojans JV got to play the final series on offense and defense.

The Trojans were led by Zack Walker.  Zack caught 6 passes for 102 yards, recovered two fumbles (one went 50 yards for a touchdown) and returned two punts for 82 yards.  In addition to Zack's two fumble recoveries the defense was led by D. J. Rozier (interception), Gaige Bryan (fumble recovery), Dovsavious Brown (9 tackles), Trevyon Smith (8 tackles) and Jake Scott (7 tackles).
