JOCO 20 Bryan County 13 |
|
The Johnson County Trojans (7-3) extended their
season by at least one game with a 20-13 win over Bryan County in the Region
Play-In game. JOCO dominated the first half, outgaining Bryan 222-69,
but only held a 14-7 lead at the break due mainly to fumbles. The
Trojans had the ball six times in the first half. Two drives ended in
touchdowns, two drives ended in fumbles, one drive ended in a missed field
goal and the Trojans had the ball at the end of the half. The Bryan
County offense, on the hand, had the ball four times. They ended three
drives with punts and one with a fumble. Bryan County got it's first
half touchdown on a 85 yard fumble return after JOCO had driven the 67 yards
on 11 plays. The second half was about even as neither team was able
to establish much on offense. A third lost fumble by JOCO set up the
Bryan County second half score. The JOCO defense and some fine punting
by Andrew Claxton didn't let Bryan County threaten after that. Markel
Horne led the Trojans with 7-10 passing for 77 yards and 27 yards rushing.
Bull Darrisaw got 63 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns on 17 carries and Keemo
Burton had 42 yards rushing and completed two halfback passes for 27 yards.
On defense Tim Crabb and Kelvion Johnson had 11 and 10 tackles,
respectively. The Trojans will hit the road to Buena Vista, Georgia
for a first round matchup with the Marion County Eagles. It's about a
2 1/2 hour drive but the Trojans need your support.
