|
The Johnson County Trojans (7-4) ended their season
with a loss to Marion County (11-0) this past Friday. Neither team
could muster any offense in the first quarter. However, on the first
play of the second quarter the Marion County quarterback threw up a jump
ball downfield that his receiver came down with for a 68 yard touchdown.
Later in the quarter Marion County blocked a Trojan punt and on the next
play connected for a 21 yard touchdown. Just before half the Trojans
would put together a 14 play drive that ended in an Austin Jones 39 yard
field goal. Despite having zero yards rushing Marion County led at the
half 14-3. On the opening kickoff of the second half it appeared that
the Trojans had a fumble recovery but it wasn't to be and on the next play
Marion ran 60 yards for a touchdown. Marion County managed one more
touchdown in the third quarter and one in the fourth quarter after an
interception. The Trojans offense couldn't get anything going against
the Marion County defense until midway of the fourth quarter. JOCO
managed to drive the ball down to the Marion 11 but turned the ball over on
downs with just over 2 minutes remaining in the game. We're all sad to
see the season come to a close but it was a fun season seeing the team come
together. It was good to see a great turnout of fans at the game. |
