JOCO 14 WHEELER COUNTY 12
The Johnson County Trojans (4-3) won a nail biter over the Wheeler County Bulldogs (3-3).  If anybody had any doubts that the Trojans were in for a dogfight they were dispelled on the second play of the game.  Wheeler County sophomore quarterback Austin Oliver kept on an option play and rumbled 52 yards down to the JOCO three before being dragged down by Tim Crabb.  That tackle would prove to be a game saver as Keriyon Smith would recover a Wheeler County fumble in the end zone on the next play.  Wheeler County drove down to the Trojan 12 early in the 2nd quarter but missed a 30 yard field goal.  The Trojans took over from there and 80 yards later Bull Darrisaw scored the first touchdown of the game.  The Trojans drove down to the 3 on their next possession but turned the ball over on downs.  There were only 35.7 seconds remaining in the half but Wheeler County would not go quietly into halftime.  On the last play of the half the Bulldogs hit a 52 yard touchdown pass.  However, Robkevious Norris blocked the extra point and JOCO still led 7-6 at the half.  The Trojans extended their lead to 14-6 on the first possession of the second half.  The big play on the drive was a diving 39 yard catch by Andrew Claxton.  Markel Horne scored from four yards out and Austin Jones made the all important extra point.  The score remained the same until 4:34 remaining in the game.  The Bulldogs capped off a 56 yards drive with a touchdown.  However, the Trojans defense halted the two point conversion attempt and the score was 14-12.  Wheeler County would get two more chances to take the lead but the Trojans defense stiffened and held on to the game for JOCO.  Due to an unexpected outcome in Twin City the Trojans find themselves in a three way tie for the sub-region lead.  Portal defeated E.C.I. 17-7 to shake up things in sub-region 3-A West.  The Trojans will host Treutlen this Friday in another important sub-region contest.
