Comments: The Trojans return to the playoffs behind the
running of Steve Askew. Askew rushed for 729 yards on 140 carries and
scored six touchdowns. Michael Walker added 587 yards rushing. The defense was led by Burt Dixon, Clifford
Hunter and Askew. Dixon had 81 tackles. Hunter had 72 tackles, 2
sacks, 2 fumble recoveries and 1 defensive touchdown. Askew had 52
tackles, 2 fumble recoveries and 1 defensive touchdown. Askew, Dixon
and Hunter were all named to the 1st Team Heart of Georgia. Michael
Walker and Robert Bryan were named to the 2nd Team. Deon Brantley, Tim
Dixon and Ken Roberts were Honorable Mention. Robert Bryan was given
the Coca Cola Golden Helmet Award for being the MVP. Bryan was also
named the Best Defensive Lineman. The other award winners were Brad
Mosher (Most Improved), Burt Dixon (Captain's Award), Clifford Hunter
(Captain's Award and Best Offensive Lineman), Ken Roberts (Coaches Award),
Steve Askew (Coaches Award), Michael Walker (Best Offensive Back) and Deon
Brantley (Best Defensive Back). |
